NeXT approached Latin American governments and a select group of universities, corporations, organizations, and high schools with a unique collaborative to jointly develop Futuro Las Americas: an education and leadership pilot. This partnership seeks to augment the strengths of the committed entities and to focus their collective resources on the success and development of Latino youth in select nations.
Futuro Las Americas: an education and leadership pilot is a community intervention strategy that synchronizes the collective resources of NeXT, select Latin American governments, high schools, community organizations, and colleges and universities.  The intent is to alter educational trends exhibited in Latin America and make use of its vast untapped potential through the creation of a direct pipeline of high achieving, quality educated and community experienced leaders.  This strategy aims to train select teachers and students.  It plans to directly fund selected students’ enhanced development from high school through to college.  The scholarship for students is conditional for them to return to serve their sponsoring country in the public, private or nonprofit sectors for a period of 4 years.
This project sets out to directly impact high caliber students currently in primary educational structures. It is expected to have lasting ramifications which our collaborative plans to observe, research and analyze.  The predicted outcomes from this intervention are (1) an augmented high school graduation rate, (2) an enhanced readiness for success in postsecondary degree programs, and (3) a greater level of volunteerism and extracurricular involvement in local community initiatives  (4) an increased amount of highly educated professionals. Beyond those outcome measures, students will be tracked to demonstrate stronger performance on standardized tests, english proficiency exams (i.e. TOEFL) and better overall grade performance.
